Kingdoms of Gallia (version 1.0)

Here's a new project, a map for a little alternate-historical-slash-fantasy setting I've been working on for the last few weeks. I'm not going to go into the details of the alternate history here, although the astute observer may be able to make a few guesses as to what's happened differently in this version of what we would think of as medieval France. In particular, the major Mediterranean cultures that influenced the region were a bit different - Greek and a little Carthaginian, instead of Greek and mostly Roman as in our Original History.

This was my first attempt at a vector-mapped image. I thought it turned out fairly well, although for my next attempt I believe I'll try some more advanced techniques with coloring, shading, and textures, to make it pop a bit more.

Technical notes: Original image produced in Inkscape, with no external resources. Time involved was on the order of 20 hours, a lot of that dedicated to historical research for transliterated names. Applied Photoshop for minimal post-processing and conversion to a JPEG.
